French
I started learning French in high school however, at the time, I wasn't as committed to learning a language as I should have been. Once I began to understand how limited I was by only knowing English, I began a more dedicated effort to learning French. At UF, I decided to take French courses so that I could improve my ability by following a developed curriculum. I started off with an accelerated French review course at UF that helped rebuild my language foundations. Over the following summer I took an intermediate course at UCF to continue learning. I'm continuing to self-study and attend conversation tables to improve my French. I still have a lot to learn however I'm consistently motivated by all the great French speakers I meet through conversation groups and the Sahel Research Group. I understand that, for my goal of working in West Africa, French is vital. As I continue to improve, I hope in the near future to travel to a Francophone country.
